Featured - Creative Review Feed

Today I got another piece of work on the Creative Review Feed, this time it was my designs for Music Festival Posters. Which I was quite shocked about as I am not a huge fan of these finals.

Travel - Alnmouth (Quality Sheds)

I have been in Northumberland for the last week seeing Frances Hawkins before we both go to the USA for 10weeks. On Sunday we were at an open garden event in Alnmouth, which featured two brilliant sheds. Top shed is defiantly my favorite, how ever I do like the barked outer of the second one with its faded olive door. Anyway better crack on with some real work before the plane.

Travel - Newcastle

I spent a day of culture in Newcastle, which featured Baltic, to the Tyneside Cinema to see Moonrise Kingdom and then Avenue Q at the Theatre Royal.

Baltic - Elizabeth Price
Her video installation were really interesting due to use of editing and choice of music. Her videos are created from archives of film, photography and physical collections which created interesting story to the audience within the blacked out gallery. Worth a pop down to the Baltic if you have the chance to experience this piece.

Musical - Avenue Q
I really enjoyed this musical as it felt quite different to other musicals I enjoy like "Next to Normal". The set was really adoptable and interesting how windows folded up to show new sets within. Plus the songs were really enjoyable and funny, worth getting hold of the soundtrack or watching some videos on youtube.

Work - Photography Portfolio Website

Home Screen.
Website designed for photographer Frances Hawkins, which I designed to be clean and simple, to ensure the design would go unnoticed against the her portfolio. I am pleased with the roll over buttons design with its white text and thin lined boxes. As well my design seems to work quite well on tablet format. If anyone has any comment for improvements or error, I would love to hear from you. Check out the website here.

Work - Ceramics (failure)

We used the wrong glaze so ended up with a creamy pot! Always fun to get something that you were not expecting, especially when covers up your horrible paint job.

Travel - Llandudno / North Wales

This weekend I was away with my family for a short break in North Wales, staying in a town called Llandudno. I had a good rest and here are some images from this weekend.

Work - Website

I did another work placement at Alpha Design & Marketing which was good fun. This week I was working on mock ups for websites for a Haulage company and here is one of them.

Work In Progress - Web design Frances Hawkins

Lately I have been really busy with the end of University and moving home to Shrewsbury. (My excuse for no blogging). Currently I am working on a Photography Portfolio website for Frances Hawkins. I wanted my approach to be clean and simple, so I would not take anything away from her work but still to have some character to it. I have designed this website with tablet and desktop computers in mind. Check out more of Frances Hawkins work on her blog. If you have any feedback, I would love to hear from you.
Example of how the roll over buttons will look.

How the current website looks with its heavy banner and insensitive landscape rollover button.

End of a Year - Misc of items

I am currently moving from my student house in Carlisle back to Shrewsbury before going to the USA for the summer. I have been having a huge throw out and in the crosshairs were my collection of juice boxes, which have now been recycled.
I was visiting my girlfriend and saw this sign at the Metro Centre Station (Newcastle), was really shocked/surprised of the use of contrasting imaginary for the wheelchair user and upright man. The use of the separate representations makes the wheelchair user seem robotic compared to the man. A little bit of thought would of been good when they were creating this sign.

Fun - Bike Ride Carlisle - Brampton

Yesterday Ieva, Jade and myself went on a 25mile cycle ride up to Brampton then taking a sharp turning downwards towards Talkin. On the way to Talkin we stopped at Talkin Tarn were we had some tea and experienced the first snow of May. From Talkin we travelled across to Wetheral where we had some good burgers from a locate pub and saw where a waterfall should of been running. However we all had a fantastic day apart from my bike developing annoying sneaks.

Work in Progress - Ceramics / Calendar

Ceramics Crew

Spent part of the day in Ceramics finishing off a very thick cup. Must say my painting skills are not the greatest but had fun and plus I love glazing ceramics. Be interesting to see how the colours come out after they have been fired. Going to create something which isnt so plain next time I am in the Ceramics studio, have a little bit more fun.

Calender
I have kept a track of how I felt everyday of University since the start of the year. Quite interesting to see which days I enjoyed the most, hopefully will take this information and turn it into something alot more interesting in the future.

Work - Manifesto of Myself

This book contains patterns, that hope to introduce you to me James Bradley and what I am about. Each pattern page is a point from a manifesto about myself and are all made from deconstructed typography.
This is my manifesto...
