Camp Wekeela - Little Bear Pond
So been super busy again lately! Just about to go white water rafting for the day now, so will have to make this super quick. Just had a day off/birthday and went to a beautiful place called Hiram Falls! Where I did lots of dissertation work and played with my new favorite thing, a purple ball! Will get hold of other peoples pictures as mine are not that fun and my film camera hasnt been developed yet! Shall post more soon!

Work - Mums Birthday Card

With going to America all summer birthday cards were made in June, to make sure people got them. I decided to make a small pattern book this year for my Mums birthday from found items in the garden mixed with coloured inks. I am pleased with the textures and how the ink has worked with the pages. My favorite is the front cover which was from a tail end off a firework that must of landed in the garden. I do feel I could of explored colour and over laying alot more this booklet, however this is always next birthday.

USA - First two weeks

So I am currently at Camp Wekeela, Maine where I am teaching Creative Arts, mainly focusing on ceramics. Super busy, hence no posts and not much time to write about anything but here are some pictures of where I am and what I am up to! So just had a day off where I was in Portland exploring the wonderful city but also the surrounding lighthouses! I am really enjoying teachings the children and getting alot out of what I am doing. Miss doing proper design work thought however I am spending all my free time exploring patterns. Which I will upload at a later date! Hope everyone is having a great summer and why not pop me an email? hello@jabradley.co.uk

Work - Fathers Day Card

I decided to play on my Dads obsession with getting a BMW motorbike, so decided to make a pop up/slot together motorbike card for him. This is so he can have it on his desk and dream about what he is currently not allowed to have! I feel the textured paper I used takes away from the vectoriness of the image which is good and I am pleased with how the colours came out! I should of tried mixing in some type within the card, but I will bare that in mind for next time I do a card like this.

Work - Palethorpes Fete

Two version of a Poster created for a Celebration Fete at Palethorpes, Market Drayton Shropshire. I wanted the posters to be simple with a dash of colour and energy to reflect the day but not to go over the top. I am quite happy with what I have produced for the client but kind of wanted to use hand rendered elements within it, but just could not get the items to work.

Featured - Print & Pattern

I have managed to get my Manifesto of Myself featured on the brilliant blog of print & pattern, who produces three fantastic pattern books. I am pretty over the moon about this as I am a huge admirer of the community around this blog and the work featured on it. Check out the feature.

I got another piece of work featured on the Creative Review Feed, this time I submitted a photography booklet I created for Frances Hawkins which explored the landscape and secrets of her village in Northumberland.

Featured - Creative Review Feed

Today I got another piece of work on the Creative Review Feed, this time it was my designs for Music Festival Posters. Which I was quite shocked about as I am not a huge fan of these finals.

Travel - Alnmouth (Quality Sheds)

I have been in Northumberland for the last week seeing Frances Hawkins before we both go to the USA for 10weeks. On Sunday we were at an open garden event in Alnmouth, which featured two brilliant sheds. Top shed is defiantly my favorite, how ever I do like the barked outer of the second one with its faded olive door. Anyway better crack on with some real work before the plane.

Travel - Newcastle

I spent a day of culture in Newcastle, which featured Baltic, to the Tyneside Cinema to see Moonrise Kingdom and then Avenue Q at the Theatre Royal.

Baltic - Elizabeth Price
Her video installation were really interesting due to use of editing and choice of music. Her videos are created from archives of film, photography and physical collections which created interesting story to the audience within the blacked out gallery. Worth a pop down to the Baltic if you have the chance to experience this piece.

Musical - Avenue Q
I really enjoyed this musical as it felt quite different to other musicals I enjoy like "Next to Normal". The set was really adoptable and interesting how windows folded up to show new sets within. Plus the songs were really enjoyable and funny, worth getting hold of the soundtrack or watching some videos on youtube.

Work - Photography Portfolio Website

Home Screen.
Website designed for photographer Frances Hawkins, which I designed to be clean and simple, to ensure the design would go unnoticed against the her portfolio. I am pleased with the roll over buttons design with its white text and thin lined boxes. As well my design seems to work quite well on tablet format. If anyone has any comment for improvements or error, I would love to hear from you. Check out the website here.

Work - Ceramics (failure)

We used the wrong glaze so ended up with a creamy pot! Always fun to get something that you were not expecting, especially when covers up your horrible paint job.

Work In Progress - Web design Frances Hawkins

Lately I have been really busy with the end of University and moving home to Shrewsbury. (My excuse for no blogging). Currently I am working on a Photography Portfolio website for Frances Hawkins. I wanted my approach to be clean and simple, so I would not take anything away from her work but still to have some character to it. I have designed this website with tablet and desktop computers in mind. Check out more of Frances Hawkins work on her blog. If you have any feedback, I would love to hear from you.
Example of how the roll over buttons will look.
